Click here for news archive. NYCG&F Release Date, All Tomorrow's Parties April 13, 2000 NYCGF release date I did some serious spying around, and was able to find out that the new Sonic Youth album 'NYC Ghosts and Flowers' will be released on May 12th (please ignore the date posted earlier on) in the US. That means it should be available as an import at your local record store around the same time. All Tomorrows Parties Sonic Youth played at the All Tomorrows Parties festival in Camber Sands, England, on Saturday 8th of April. There was a webcast of the show at the new official Mogwai website for those who couldn't attend the show. They started out with a 20 min. improv piece, followed by songs from the upcoming album (NYC Ghosts and Flowers), and ended with Sunday. In case you missed it, well, don't worry because the webcast had been archived to the All Tomorrows Parties festival website. Better yet, this webcast should be faster and more reliable as opposed to the live webcast we saw... http://www.alltomorrowsparties.co.uk More US tour dates A few more tour dates for the US tour were confirmed earlier this weekend, click here to see if they're coming anywhere near you... The word is out that Sonic Youth will tour with Pearl Jam later on -- more on this as soon as we get confirmed information on which dates they will play.

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
