Click here for news archive. Fans Demand release of 1991 The Year Punk Broke DVD April 7, 2006 News from David Markey's We Got Power Films website: "JOIN THE 1991 COMMITTEE ! It has just come to our attention that some good people have taken direct action to form their own grass roots organization to make known to the suits at Universal that they want this damn DVD released already. This was started by a fan on the infamous Myspace.com site. Although We Got Power isn't connected to this, we naturally endorse this kind gesture, and encourage all of you to get behind this action. More news here in the future, and hopefully it will have to do with the release of this project which was completed over 2 years ago now. Thanks for your time" http://theyearpunkbroke.com/ http://www.myspace.com/theyearpunkbroke

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
