Click here for news archive. A Few Quick Ones From Steve February 14, 2000 I e-mailed Steve yesterday and was lucky enough to ask him a few quick questions. Today Steve's leaving for a month long tour with Two Dollar Guitar. That will keep him busy for a while, that's for sure. I asked about the new album, and Steve wrote: "We're finishing mixing it - it's possible it will be out in May". Yes, go ahead and kill me, just because I forgot to ask what songs are on it ;-) Everyone's been guessing there will be same tracks they played at Bumbershoot last year... Also asked if he had any idea on when sonicyouth.com would launch: "Not really - it will most likely start off real slooow..." Then asked about upcoming tours, on which he replied that they will book some summer dates very soon. I think they're planning to do some european dates as well. SYR5 will be coming out this spring - just in case you missed this one.

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
