"On Sun 2 Oct 2005 The Barbican will host the world premiere of Perfect Partner, a first time collaboration between Sonic Youth guitarist Kim Gordon, renowned video artist Tony Oursler and filmmaker Phil Morrison. Somewhere between Goddard�s Pierrot Le Fou, Hair: The Musical, and a thundering free rock freakout, Perfect Partner is a surreal psychodrama-cum-road movie celebrating our society�s enchantment with automobile culture. Joining Kim Gordon on stage is another Sonic Youth member, producer extraordinaire, composer and �School of Rock� collaborator Jim O�Rourke, percussionist Tim Barnes, ex DNA laptop virtuoso Ikue Mori and turntable whiz DJ Olive. Fasten your seatbelts and be transported with live music, video projections, actors and a few surprises at this one-off cross media adventure".

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist / vocalists Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive, experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their time.
