Click here for news archive. Nevermind the single August 19, 2000 To the best of our knowledge, a CD single of "Nevermind (what was it anyway?)" is being released in the Europe as we speak. Yes, only an European release -- as was the case with their previous Single, "Sunday" (off the 1998 album "A Thousand Leaves"). The b-side of the single is "Lightnin' (recorded live at All Tomorrow's Parties, Camber Sands, UK, 04/08/00)". There might also be a 7" version out there for a release, though we don't know. At a recent show, Thurston mentioned this being their never to be released 7" single, seconds before launching into Lightnin'. But well, as always, it's not recommended to believe everything Thurston says... ;-)

Sonic Youth, initially comprising of guitarist /
vocalists Thurston
Moore and Lee
Ranaldo, guitarist / bassist / vocalist Kim
Gordon and drummer Richard Edson, were formed in New York City in 1981. A product
of the No-Wave music scene of the late 1970s, the group had their roots in abrasive,
experimental music, with Moore and Ranaldo having previously worked with the
experimental composer Glenn Branca. The band were joined in 1985 by drummer Steve
Shelley, and have now recorded 14 albums together, as well as many side and solo
projects. Their work has been consistently challenging and innovative, and they
are widely regarded as one of the most intriguing and influential bands of their
time.
